Starting back to the 48

Well Sports fans, I have been in Anchorage since Saturday after leaving the Salmon King Capitol of Alaska, and parting company with John and Heather - What a treat!!!
Maintenance Days in Anchorage for laundry, and service for Motor Home. I was coming up fast on my first service at 15K - yes!! and wasn't going to make it back to the lower forty-eight without going over. Mercedes said to go to Freightliner  in Anchorage and they are authorized to do the service. What luck - they did a great job and I saved about $400 over the quoted price at the local Mercedes dealer at home. Somethings are less expensive away from SoCal!!!
Had some great food in Anchorage - good parks and good museum - had an exhibit on Capt. Cook. He was here you know.
Stocked up at the local Fred Meyers and started North on the Glenn Highway. Yes, North - there aren't that many passes going East or West. The Glenn Highway is as beautiful as the Parks Highway past Denali - in my humble opinion. Stopped at Glennallen and was surprised at how small it was - the big city of Anchorage will do that to you - and wanted to stop for the night. The very nice man at the Tourist Office(this was one of the nicest so far) told me where to go - as many people before have done. I am now at a State graded area next to the river Gulkana with a few others - boon-docking.
Kind of purity ain't it?!
Must find out what that mountain is - maybe Mt Drum??
Past the Matanuska Glacier and got these shots - which I like a lot

Sorry - the first is actually North of the 2nd - but you all know that
Looking South along the Glenn Highway near the Glacier

Looking north not far from the Glacier - another mountain - they are everywhere!!
Tomorrow - up to Tok and then down to Haines and over by ferry to Skagway - I hope!!
Good Night friends
