Keweenaw Peninsula - Part Two

There were two things I wanted to investigate and get if I could - one was to find a piece of copper for my grand-daughter (who loves rocks) and the other was to find a Thimbleberry bush and its jam.
There is copper everywhere, some of it just lying below the ground - the same that the Indians discovered hundreds of years ago. But being without a metal detector and not really wanting to walk in the deep woods, I  decided to go to one of the many rock dealers in the area.
They look like raspberries and taste similarly

They work on trust up here more than city dwellers are used to.

Pretty
Here are a couple of Lighthouses on the North Coast. Eagle Lighthouse

And then Eagle River, which is now a private residence
Visited Calumet where there is a preservation going on as in the Firehouse

And the Opera House with its beautiful interior

Then of course there is the remains of the huge copper mining of the area that is now almost totally defunct because of the metals price.
Then it was time to move on South and stop at Target in Marquette to get some replacement clothes. The area was somewhat booked out for a place to stay that forced me to drive much further than I desired.
